Motivation to lose weight

motivation to lose weight

After a successful run, there are times when you feel low. Many of us find difficulty in working during that low state of mind. We are unable to give 100% and can’t focus during the whole workout session. There are a number of reasons for this to happen: your boss, relationship or financial problems, or even not achieving your fitness goals. At this time, it’s very easy to lose motivation and get your train derailed from the track of success. It’s completely natural and happens to everyone, which is out of our control, but what we can control is how to tackle that state of mind. Regaining motivation to lose weight is crucial.

Let's see what you can do to regain motivation to lose weight

1. Why are you on this journey?

Understanding the reason behind your work is the first step of your motivation. Your “WHY” helps you keep going during your tough days. At that time, we feel like enough for today, it doesn’t matter if I don’t work out for one day. But everything starts with one, and how this count increases, we too are unaware of that. So, regularly recalling your reasons, especially on the days you are low, definitely serves as an effective reminder to get up and continue.

2. Appreciate or Reward Yourself

That feeling when you reach your goal is unmatched. Celebrating small wins throughout the journey is very important. Goals shouldn’t be too tough to reach. They should be set in such a way that they slightly move you out of your comfort zone. Rewards are crucial as they motivate you to focus on your next goal. Now, rewards don’t mean only food-related; they can be materialistic, a small trip, or even a mode of relaxation. This process of rewarding helps you to stay consistent and reach your final goal.

3. Be Ready for Setbacks

As you get excited about the rewards when you reach your target, always keep your mind ready for setbacks. Setbacks are unavoidable, but how you handle them creates a difference. Setbacks like eating junk food today, which resulted in a surge in weight, or failing to hit the gym due to a medical issue, which resulted in muscle loss. These obstacles are required as they help you learn from your mistakes and never lose motivation to lose weight. You just have to stay calm and positive while manifesting your goal because failures teach you what success couldn’t.

4. Follow Your Role Model

If there is an option to stay motivated just by watching someone, it could always be a great way to stay consistent. Choose your role model wisely, just like you do with your gym. His/her struggles, journey, and goals should inspire you. Many fitness influencers post their daily workout routines on multiple social media platforms like YouTube and Instagram. Watching them daily will motivate you and make you think twice before skipping any workout or consuming junk.

Most  importantly they will help you avoid losing motivation to lose weight. Your role model could be anyone, a celebrity, or even your friend. The important thing is to get inspired and motivated by them so that you won’t get distracted and stick to your goal.

5. Have a Gym Partner

There are a lot of benefits if you start working out with a partner. Your daily workout session will be enjoyable. Your buddy will motivate you if you feel low or don’t feel like hitting the gym. Both of you learn, correct the form and mistakes, and celebrate each other’s success too. When you go heavy, you need support to avoid mishaps; your buddy will be there for you. Also, you both can challenge each other so that you both will benefit. Firstly, you will enjoy and stay motivated during the challenge. Secondly, you will give 100% to beat your partner. In short, having a gym partner throughout the journey feels motivating and less rigorous.

6. Stay Positive/Manifest

Having a positive mindset while performing any task is as important as the task. Instead of thinking, will I be successful in losing fat, just say yes, I will. Overthinking will take you nowhere; it will just distract you. Just manifest, why are you here on this journey? How far have I come to reach my goal? Keep your role model in front of you and don’t even think of skipping any workout or the entire session. If you skip your gym session during the tough times thinking it doesn’t matter if I don’t work out today, anyhow, I will be coming tomorrow, then remember everything starts with one, and when this forms a habit, we don’t even realize.

It’s all about progress and not perfection. If you are serious enough about your goal and you miss out on your workout session or consume junk, you will definitely regret it later on. A positive attitude will push your limits, just be patient, take a deep breath, and look into the mirror and say I will do it!

7. Get Expert Assistance/Seek Support

It’s always better to seek help if you are new or aren’t aware of a particular thing. Be it anything like how to perform this workout, proper form, or meals. Seeking support definitely helps throughout the journey. Due to insufficient knowledge, consuming a high-calorie meal if you are on a fat loss journey will never help you reach your goal. Or working with improper form, you won’t train proper muscle groups and can also lead to injury. Seeking guidance from professionals like a nutritionist, gym trainer, or physiotherapist in case of recovery helps you to reach your goal in proper time and in a structured manner. Under guidance, you will also be assured that you are on the right track.

8. Having a Custom Diet Plan

Whether you want to gain weight or lose it, or want to bulk or shred, following a proper diet plan is a must. Nowadays, we get diet plans quite easily on search engines, but all those are general diet plans. See, everyone’s body reacts differently to various foods. So instead of following a generic diet plan, consult a nutritionist and follow a customized diet plan. Nutritionist will properly plan your diet balancing all the required nutrients like protein, carbs, fiber and also guide you with post and pre workout meal. That custom plan will consider your lifestyle, health issues, and likes/dislikes, which will allow you to stay consistent with your diet over the long term.
